Chat, files and member levels — October update

· Development update

The workspace now puts conversations and documents together. There are three member levels, and new features are released in stages.

The normal workspace is now centred on chat. Conversations stay in the sidebar, with larger controls and a clearer upload area.

For members with file access, documents open beside the conversation. You can upload and download files, preview documents, save reviewed edits as new versions and share with named members. Letters, reports and meeting minutes can be created as PDFs. Court-specific templates are not released.

There are three levels: Member workspace, Supported workspace and Team workspace. Basic chat and public research are available at Level 1; eligible contributors have additional drafting tools at Level 2. Level 3 adds the private file library and team tools and is currently enabled by the team. A contribution alone does not automatically grant Level 3.

New features are tested with super admins, then admins, before reaching eligible members. Screenshot paste is currently in the super-admin trial. Being on the highest member level does not reveal unfinished features.

The public pages are shorter. News and videos have direct routes to the archives, and the sharing panel uses one selected link for Facebook and X. Suggested wording stays separate from your own edits.

The 7 October newsletter asks members to read, watch, share and bring records. Those are the starting points on the homepage. Website updates will be published here as changes are released.
