Formal Submission – Systemic OIA Oversight Capacity and Resourcing of the Office of the Ombudsman
Dear Sir/Madam,
Please find attached a formal submission concerning the capacity, resourcing and systemic workload pressures affecting the Office of the Ombudsman.
The submission arises from repeated concerns regarding delayed or unresolved Official Information Act matters and asks that the relevant Parliamentary authority examine whether the Office of the Ombudsman has been provided with sufficient staffing, investigative capacity, funding and operational resources to discharge its statutory oversight functions effectively.
The attached document also refers to earlier correspondence raising concerns about systemic oversight failure and requests consideration of the wider institutional issue rather than determination of any individual complaint.
