Weekly summary  for Week Ending 6th Sept 2026.

Since the last newsletter, the team have kept the admin work moving across OIA follow-ups, Crown/agency accountability work, member files, and records handling. Tracy/FARQ has been active on DPMC, Health NZ, Police, REA, Customs, MfE/EPA data-centre questions, Paradise Haulage, Rangitikei/Marton rates matters, and other member support files. a couple of us have been working through the on roadside drug testing, firearms review material, MBIE fuel-supply follow-up, Waitaki/Oamaru parking-meter material, Bryant/MPI issues, and making sure key threads are filed and followed up. Chris has mainly been supporting the working systems, including Codex/workbench problems, email handling between FARQ and 105, and sharing research material.

  • The noticeboard has had a strong run of Review the Crown material: roadside drug testing
  •  Crown authority questions, council/rates records, food-water-soil accountability
  •  data centres
  • firearms licensing
  •  superannuation
  •  and public-agency OIA handling.

The video library has also been kept active, with recent public videos on rates, public fees, WINZ, warrants, political accountability, health, technology, and wider public-interest topics. The most member-relevant recent items appear to be the Review the Crown updates, the “Proof Over Power” article, the roadside drug-testing work, and council/rates accountability posts.

Nigel Gray has sent material members should know about. The strongest items to point members toward are his roadside drug-testing material, the PHF Science/OIA work, gold royalties and public-resource questions, DOC/1080 and bird-testing issues, data-centre concerns, and his recent public-agency accountability posts.

Nigel has provided a steady stream of research that is now feeding into our OIA and public-review work, especially around roadside drug testing, public records, and government accountability. Kindly support him and us where you can.
