PUBLIC REVIEW NOTICE – FIREARMS LICENCE HOLDERS
We are beginning a public review into concerns that licensed firearms holders are
having firearms removed, or are being treated as no longer “fit and proper”, without
clear, correct, or properly documented process.
We are asking people who have been affected, or who know someone affected, to consider
sharing information with us so we can better understand what is happening and whether
there is a wider pattern.
Information that may assist includes:
– Police letters, notices, or emails
– dates and timelines of what happened
– reasons given for the decision
– whether any appeal, review, or complaint process was explained
– whether firearms were removed before proper documentation was provided
– any other relevant experience or supporting records
This review is to gather information, identify common issues, and prepare a clearer
public record of what people are experiencing.
