An extension over a simple question.
I will sum this up simply by saying the question to MSD was why must a beneficiary sign anything to receive their entitlement. The production of a form of official ID and a bank statement with proof of the account # is all that is required.
Yet we are asking where is the Authority to insist that a form must be signed by the pensioner. We see this as entrapment and Joinder. A simple question that they have delayed answering for many months. WHY
Kia ora
Thank you for your email advising that the Ministry has extended the timeframe
for responding to my Official Information Act request until 20 July 2026.
I note that the extension relies on sections 15(1) and 15A of the Official
Information Act on the basis that consultations are necessary before a decision
can be made.
While I acknowledge the Ministry’s ability to extend the statutory timeframe
where the Act permits, I ask that the Ministry provide further clarification
regarding the consultation process and the measures being taken to ensure the
response is complete, accurate and reliable.
In particular, please advise:
1. Which business units within MSD are being consulted.
2. Whether consultation includes any external agencies or third parties.
3. The general purpose of those consultations.
4. What searches have already been undertaken to identify information within
the scope of my request.
5. What steps are being taken to ensure that all relevant information is
identified, preserved, reviewed and accurately disclosed.
6. Whether any information that has already been identified and is capable of release can be provided on a staged or rolling basis before the final
response date.
As a public service agency exercising statutory functions on behalf of the
Crown, I expect that the Ministry’s response will be complete, accurate and
based on appropriate records management and quality assurance processes.
I appreciate your attention to these matters and look forward to your response.
