I Am Called Tracy

A simple public statement about identity, land, food, water, and accountability

Written by me, Tracy.

As known by my grandmother’s call: Tracy.

Simple Statement

This is simple.

We have a culture too.

Our culture is not complicated. It is food without toxins. It is clean water. It is land looked after properly. It is families not being separated from each other, from their roots, or from the earth.

We do not need to be told who we are by paperwork, legal terms, newly created bodies, departments, councils, or people who only appeared after the fact. We already know who we are. We have always been here.

The Crown and the British arrived here too. They were immigrants too. They used force, law, records, titles, marriage, land language, trusteeship, councils, courts, and paperwork to control what was already here. People were killed. Families were separated. Land was taken, renamed, leased, gifted, sold, mortgaged, rated, and administered.

Now we see the same problem in modern language. It is not always done with open violence. Sometimes it is done with forms, signatures, lawyers ticking boxes, land records, council decisions, LINZ records, rates, leases, mortgages, caveats, and government departments saying, “not us”.

That is why we need a hard audit.

If our signatures are used to make us accountable, then their signatures must make them accountable too.

If lawyers, councils, Crown agencies, departments, trustees, banks, or administrators sign documents or tick boxes, they must be accountable for what they did, what they knew, who they acted for, and who was harmed.

We should not be sent from office to office while everyone says someone else is responsible. If the system controls land, food, water, pensions, care, families, homes, records, and public money, then the system must answer plainly.

We also need to stop being separated from each other. Separation is how people lose their strength. Families get separated. People get separated from their land. People get separated from clean food and water. People get separated from their own memory. That is not right.

This is personal for me. I know what it feels like to be separated from family truth. I know what it feels like to be told later, after the damage is done, that I must have been told or must have forgotten. That kind of silence destroys people. That is why accountability matters.

I am not writing this to attack ordinary people. I am not writing this to hate migrants, families, workers, neighbors, or anyone trying to live decently. I am writing this because the systems of control must be audited and made answerable.

We want clean food. We want clean water. We want land cared for. We want families respected. We want records opened. We want signatures followed. We want decisions audited. We want public bodies to stop hiding behind legal words.

We do not need a newly created body to tell us who we are or what our culture is. Culture is lived. Culture is remembered. Culture is carried. Culture is food, water, land, family, memory, language, care, and responsibility.

I was not named into being by a system.

I was called.

My grandmother called me Tracy.

I am called Tracy.

And I am listening now.
