Police Must be Warranted to be a Transport Enforcement officer

For any reason you are pulled over on the road, ask the police to see their warrant. If they cant produce it then they have no jurisdiction.
Most police wont know this so we have to educate them with the legislation that follows

Policing Act 2008
Schedule 1
Policing roles
Part 4 Police transport enforcement officer
8 A Police employee warranted as a Police transport enforcement officer has the following powers:
(b) the powers of a constable under sections 113(2)(a), (c), and (d), 113(3), and 114(1), (2), and (3) of the Land Transport Act 1998:

Policing Act 2008 Schedule 1 part 4 states a police employee must be warranted as a Police transport enforcement officer.
Policing Act 2008 section 4 -constable means a police employee and holds the office of constable
Lawyers and Conveyancers Act 2006 section 6, employee includes in relation to the NZ Police, a constable.

These legislation state clearly all police employees including constables must be warranted as a Police transport enforcement officer.
Police will try to say a constable is not a police employee but legislation states otherwise.

We have just taken this into the district court in front of a judge. The judge was not aware of this law but requested all legislation referring to this .
The court hearing was over 6 weeks ago and we have just been notified a decision regarding the hearing wont be until near the end of November 2025.
They don’t know what to do with this.
